At The Journey, our day is spent utilizing custom built Christian based curriculums that emphasis the use of hands-on, child-led learning activities and literature-rich programs that develop an engaging and complete education, far richer than textbooks and rote memorization and without the stress of standardized testing. Children learn both inside our unique classroom settings and out in nature!
Each day begins with a devotional. Biblical teachings and Godly character traits are interwoven throughout the daily lessons. Children see God’s word, and biblical references, as commonplace as the ABC’s. Our aim is to develop spiritual growth and a relationship with Jesus Christ at an everyday level.
True to biblical teachings, we place an emphasis on the importance of serving others in Christ’s kingdom. We partner with local nonprofits to teach children the value of giving back to their community, in addition to serving those around them on a daily basis. Multi-age classrooms allow for daily opportunities to recognize and help their peers..
We are passionate about providing children with life skills and opportunities to explore God’s amazing creation. Young children learn by using their hands and are inspired by the wonder of nature. Whether it be pulling weeds, planting flowers, cooking or woodworking, we believe these are all learning opportunities.
Your child will receive a dynamic and tailored education with The Journey. We are not a traditional model of education that requires standardized testing, but more focused on mastering concepts and learning how to implement those skills in real life situations. Students learn from interesting, engaging text, hands-on learning and individualized lessons.
Typical of a micro school setup, classes are multi-age with a low student-to-teacher ratio. Students are occasionally pulled into groups for level-appropriate learning. Frequently, all students are together for collaborative learning. This allows older children to apply what they’ve previously learned by helping their younger classmates, while providing an opportunity for the younger levels to benefit from the experience of their older peers.
We are located on the campus of River Oaks Community Church in Goshen.
Our hours are within what a child can easily maintain. Drop-off begins at 8:50 am and pickup at 2:00 pm. Students attend Monday-Thursday with the occasional Friday field trip.
The Journey begins after Labor Day and runs through the end of May.
Tuition will include a non-refundable $250 deposit per student at time of registration. All curriculum materials will be included in cost of tuition, but basic classroom supplies will be the responsibility of each child. Tuition is $4,000 per student annually.
